Contractor’s Guide to Specifying a Tennis Court Net
When replacing nets for tennis, the “set and forget” reliability that contractors need comes down to three factors: mesh thickness, headband construction, and surface protection. Low-quality tennis netting often sags or rots within a single season; Spartan systems are built to eliminate these failure points.

Braided Mesh Integrity
Standard tennis nets often use twisted polyethylene, which causes the ball to “kick back” into the court. Spartan nets for tennis utilize 3.5mm braided polyethylene. Braided mesh is naturally more absorbent, ensuring the ball drops closer to the tennis court net upon impact. This material is also heat-set to prevent knot-slippage, maintaining a uniform 1-3/4” square mesh throughout its lifespan.
Headband Durability: Vinyl vs. Polyester
For high-moisture or clay court environments, our non-porous vinyl headbands prevent algae and mold from setting in. For hard courts requiring a traditional look, our polyester canvas headbands offer superior UV resistance without the risk of shrinking or rotting. Both styles are sewn with four rows of bonded polyester thread to ensure the headband never separates from the tennis netting.
Professional Installation Standards
Every Spartan tennis court net is designed for rapid deployment. We include a 47′ vinyl-coated steel cable with a minimum breaking strength of 2,600 lbs, along with fiberglass dowels and lacing cord. For facilities looking to preserve their court surface, we recommend our tapered tennis nets, which prevent the bottom of the mesh from rubbing against the acrylic paint, extending the life of the court finish.
